Electricians

Electricians install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. They work with high voltage, data voice systems, fiber optics, telephone communications, and motor controls. Additionally, they install a range of components, including lighting, alarms, traffic signals, power generators, solar arrays, and security systems.

JOURNEYMAN’S WAGE*

$49.00/hr

*based on local prevailing wage

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #364 represents members in Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago counties. 

Apprenticeship Information: 5-year apprenticeship; 900 hours of classroom training and 8000 hours of on-the-job training.

Wages and Benefits: Apprentices start at 40% of journeyman wireman wage..

At the time of application, only those who have resided for a minimum of one year within the geographical boundaries, as defined in the current Labor Agreement, will be considered for an interview. A valid Illinois Driver’s License, Illinois Identification card or valid Voters Registration Card will be required as proof.

In order to proceed to aptitude test, applicants must provide the following within 30 days of application:

  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License
  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Copy of high school transcripts (must be sent directly from the education institution to the Apprenticeship Office)
  • Proof of completing at least one full year of high school algebra with a minimum passing grade of “C” or better. Pre-Algebra is unacceptable.
  • $25.00 administration fee
